Terms of service

Handstand is operated by Hard Carry Media. Last updated 8 September 2026.

What this service is

Hard Carry Media licenses the name, image and likeness of real people to brands, and produces AI-generated content in their image under those licenses. Handstand is where you apply, connect your channels, verify who you are, sign your agreement, and see what has been made with your likeness.

The license is a separate document

Nothing on this page grants us any right to your name, image or likeness. That is the NIL agreement, which you read and sign in full before it takes effect, and which sets out exactly what is permitted, for how long, on which platforms, and what you are paid. Where these terms and that agreement differ, the agreement governs.

You can read what you have currently permitted, and withdraw any part of it, at any time from your rights page.

You must be 18 or over

No exceptions, and it is not a checkbox. Age is verified against a government ID at application. If you are under 18 you cannot hold an account, cannot sign an agreement, and cannot appear in anything we offer to a brand.

Your account

Keep your password to yourself and tell us if you think somebody else has it. Everything you tell us about yourself should be true — the categories you pick and the answers you give are what a brand sees and briefs against, and an application built on things that are not true is one we will end.

Applying does not guarantee acceptance. We review every application and may decline one without giving a reason.

Connecting a channel

When you link an Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook or Snapchat account, we ask that platform for read-only access. We read your audience size, your public profile and a window of your recent posts, so we can describe you to brands accurately. We do not ask for permission to post as you, and nothing in this product publishes anything on your behalf.

You can disconnect a channel whenever you like. Where the platform lets us, we also revoke our access on their side; where it does not yet, we tell you where to remove us yourself.

Nothing is produced without an active grant

No content is generated in your likeness, no campaign is cast with you, and you are not shown to a brand, unless a signed grant covering that specific use is active at that moment. This is enforced in the software rather than by policy, and every asset we produce is recorded against the grant it was made under.

What we ask of you

Do not use this service to impersonate somebody else, to submit another person’s likeness as your own, or to interfere with how the service runs. Do not use it for anything unlawful. Any of those ends the relationship.

Money

What you are paid, and on what basis, is set out in your agreement. We show you what was made with your likeness and what it earned. Nothing here changes those terms.

Ending it

You can withdraw a permission at any time, and it takes effect immediately. Ending your agreement, and what happens to work already produced or already committed, is governed by the termination terms in the agreement itself.

When your agreement ends, we delete your likeness models and the source material behind them within 30 days — from our systems, from the vendors we use, and from backups — and an officer of the company certifies that it was done. What we keep afterwards, and why, is in the privacy policy.

Changes to these terms

If we change them materially we will tell account holders by email rather than quietly updating this page. A change here never changes what you have already permitted — that only changes by you granting or withdrawing something.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, matching the governing-law and venue provisions of the NIL agreement, so there is one forum rather than two.

Getting in touch

Reply to any email from us — it reaches a monitored mailbox, and it is the right route for questions about your account, your agreement, or anything on this page.
